GUIDELINES FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF EVENTS
IPB World congress 2016: Disarm ! for a climate of peace
The Congress consists of two main parts:
A. The Core Program, arranged by IPB and its partners.
and
B. Side-events, self-organised.
All events will be featured in the Congress Program Booklet, as long as they are submited by the deadline.
A. THE CORE PROGRAM:
Note: all financial decisions must be approved by the IPB’s Congress Finance Committee
-
Plenaries
These are large meetings, organised and paid for by IPB, with help from Partners.
-
Forums
Forums are medium sized meetings which will be organized by IPB and its member organizations, by supporting organizations or persons who are organizing a forum in the name of the Program Committee. Funds from the Forums come from the central congress budget or the responsible organizations. Details have to be discussed with the Program Committee, of whom the Chair shall have the final decision.
B. SIDE-EVENTS, SELF-ORGANISED
-
Workshops
These are normally smaller meetings. Any organization or individual can suggest a workshop. It has to be related to the broad theme of the conference. The organizer/organizing organization is responsible for the workshop, ie it is self-organized and self-financed. Financial support from the congress budget is generally not possible. Exceptions may be decided by the Program committee.
-
Side events
Side events are events of any size and type (discussion, campaign activity, film show, performance …), organized by the organization/person who announces the event. Financial support from the central budget is generally not possible.
MERGERS
In this kind of large event it is common that 2 or more proposals are similar. In such cases the Congress organisers may invite the proposers to join forces or alter their topics.
YOUTH PROGRAM
The Youth program is both separate and integrated. Separate, because we believe it is useful for young people (age limit self-defined?) to have some space (and time) to meet among themselves. Integrated, since we believe it is helpful for everyone if young people can participate fully in the rest of the conference.
The ‘separate’ part begins on Thurs afternoon, and concludes on Sunday. The main congress begins on Friday evening. See: https://www.ipb2016.berlin/youth/first-program/
A distinct process has been started for those wishing to contribute to the Youth program. See: https://www.ipb2016.berlin/youth/engage-in-the-youth-gathering/
